This registry is a work in progress. I'll keep adding to it as I think of things that helped us with our boys.
Cribs (2)
Mattresses (2) - We bought our mattresses on Amazon, which was really nice, because they were delivered to our house. So far, the mattresses we bought seem fine.
Changing Table - We bought one on Craigslist for $150, and it's been great. It has three drawers beneath it for storage. Once the boys get bigger, we'll probably get rid of it, though. A few people told me that we would never use the changing table, but we've used it for all of the diaper changes we do in the boys' room.
Pack 'n Play - We bought a Chicco Pack 'n Play off of Amazon, thinking we'd be able to put the boys in it for naps during the day. They totally hate it, and we've only been able to get the boys to use it a couple of times without them completely flipping out. What we have used a lot is the changing table feature. We've done all of our downstairs diaper changes on it. Once the boys are bigger and we take out the bassinet feature, we might be able to convince them to play in the Pack 'n Play.
Glider - This is another item that a lot of people said we would never use. We've actually used it every day, and I also used it a little bit when I was pregnant, because after a while, it was the only chair I was comfortable in. Because we were so unsure if we would use it or not, we bought the glider on Craigslist for $50. Best purchase ever!
Bouncy Seats – Get at least two of these. If your babies like them, and you will be upstairs and downstairs, you might want to get four. If you can get these on Craigslist or at garage sales, you can get really good deals on them.
Swings – Again, you might want more of them if your babies like them. They really enjoyed the My Little Lamb Cradle and Swings. I had one on my registry and bought another one used. We also have two used swings up in the babies’ nursery.
Boppy pillows – Good for bottle feeding and resting your arms when holding babies. We have two of these. One was a gift, and we got one used from a friend and we got a new cover for it.
Mobiles – The jury is still out on these! We are testing one out right now to see if the boys like them. We got a Fisher Price 2-in-1 Projection Mobile because one of the boys loves lights!
Playtex Ventaire Bottles - Register for more if you’re bottlefeeding
Swaddle blankets – I like the Anais Anais blankets, but our favorites were flannel ones that were handmade. Our babies were born in the winter, and they just seemed a little bit warmer.
High chairs (2) - We haven't used these yet, but we decided to get the Fisher Price Spacesaver chairs. My friend told me that she thinks I'm going to want real high chairs too so we can move them around the house if needed. I may end up trying to get some used high chairs too if this is the case.
Wipe Warmer - I was totally against this at first, because I didn't want the babies to get used to warm wipes and then flip out if we were ever out and had to use cool wipes. But, they were flipping out about the cool wipes for middle-of-the night feeds. In the interest of keeping the boys calm and not waking them up in the middle of the night, we broke down and bought this. We bought the Munchkin brand warmer from Target.
A&D Ointment - This ointment helps prevent diaper rash. I'm not sure how true that is, but our boys haven't had diaper rash yet!
Outfits with ZIPPERS - It is a huge pain to try to figure out the snaps on baby outfits, especially when the baby is kicking or upset. Outfits that zip up are so much easier. You will probably get a lot of clothes as gifts, but if you're going to register for clothes, register for stuff with ZIPPERS.
T-shirts - These are nice for when you first come home from the hospital and want to be careful about your baby's umbilical cord. I registered for two packs of three t-shirts.
LaMaze toys - My boys love these! They are really colorful and good for newborns. My mom got one of the boys to laugh for the first time by playing with him with the moose toy.
Play Gym - This is good for tummy time and to just let the babies wiggle around a little bit. My mom bought the boys the Fisher Price Rainforest Playgym, and I have a couple of other ones that I bought at a Moms of Multiples sale. I try to rotate them every once in a while so the boys are seeing something new.
Chicco Keyfit30 Car Seats (2) - I researched these a lot, and ended up buying them because they were ranked #1 on Consumer Reports. They really are easy to use, but they're a little big heavy. I can't carry both car seats for long distances at all. If I'm going to need to carry the boys for a while, I'll need to use the Double Snap 'n Go.
Double Snap 'n Go - My friend found me a used one for $20. If you search around on Craigslist or through Moms of Multiples groups, you can get used ones cheap! Since it's really just a frame, there's little need to pay full price for one. If you can find one used, it's a really good deal.
JJ Cole Bundle Me's (2) - These go in carseats, and they act like a "coat" for your babies when you take them out in cold weather. It's so much easier to use these than to bundle them up everytime you go out. I got one used from a friend, and then I bought another one from Amazon.
Huggies Wipes (as many as you can get!) - I like these wipes the best, because they are a little bit damper than the Pampers wipes. They just seem to do a better job, but I think wipes are probably a personal preference. If you can get a good deal on Seventh Generation wipes, they are a pretty good wipe too, but they're usually more expensive. Try a bunch of different brands and see what you like.
Flip Camera - This isn't a traditional registry item, but it's really nice to have one to record your babies in action. It's really small and easy to use. I think it will be really nice for our babies to be able to watch videos of themselves as babies when they get older.
Diapers - You might want to register for a few different brands. Different brands work better for different babies. When I found out I was pregnant, I started ordering diapers from Amazon using a combination of the Subscribe & Save program, and 20% coupon codes I found in magazines. It helped, because we had a small stockpile of diapers for when the boys arrived.
Pacifiers - We like the MAM pacifiers. Our boys seemed to like them the best. I would register for at least six of these, because they're always getting lost or dropped on the floor. And you do NOT want to be without a pacifier during a meltdown.
Drying Rack for Bottles - I usually wash our bottles in the dishwasher, because we have a SaniWash mode that is supposed to help sanitize the bottles. We use the drying rack if we hand wash bottles, or if we take the bottles out of the dishwasher and they're still a little bit wet.
Bottle Brush - For handwashing bottles.
Burp Cloths - You can use basic cloth diapers as burp cloths. Register for at least two packages, because you're going to need a ton of these.
Cheap Washcloths - I bought some cheap white washcloths that were on clearance at Target. We use them all of the time to clean up little spills and spitups.
Bathtub - Get a bathtub that you can use with newborns.
Baby washcloths - Register for several sets
Hooded towels - Good for keeping babies warm and happy after a bath.
